CHOICE is developing training for healthcare providers in MOOC format, meaning it will be freely accessible online to anyone in the EU or beyond. The training covers four main areas:
- Communication techniques for explaining complex genetic and medical information in language patients can actually follow.
- Cultural competence across European settings, because the barriers women face in Portugal, Czechia and Greece are not identical.
- Practical use of the CHOICE decision-making tools (virtual patients, decision trees) in everyday clinical work.
- Understanding the specific health literacy challenges that BRCA mutation carriers tend to encounter.
The content is shaped with input from the External Advisory Board and specialists in oncology, genetics, and behavioural science. The target is at least 30 healthcare professionals trained per country (90+ total). Two pilot sessions will be run first, and the feedback from those will be used to fine-tune the final version. All materials will be available in English, Czech, Portuguese and Greek.
The training modules will be available on this website once completed. Pilot sessions are expected in late 2027, with the final version published in early 2028.
