A High-Impact, Mixed-Method Framework
The true power of the CHOICE methodology lies in its integration. By feeding qualitative human insights into quantitative AI models, we can predict the factors that most strongly influence a woman’s breast cancer decisions. To solve a challenge as complex as BRCA decision-making, CHOICE employs a sophisticated “mixed-method” strategy.
Quantitative Framework: Data Science
Our quantitative framework is designed to map the landscape of health literacy and decision-making across Europe with unprecedented scale.
- European-Wide Surveys: We are conducting large-scale, culturally sensitive surveys across Portugal, Czechia, and Greece, targeting over 300 BRCA mutation carriers to identify broad trends in medical choices and informational gaps.
- AI-Powered Sentiment Analysis: Beyond direct surveys, our team uses advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) to analyze more than 5,000,000 online interactions. By processing data from social media and health forums, we identify real-time patterns of anxiety, misinformation, and the “silent” concerns that often go unheard in clinical settings.
Qualitative Framework: Interviews
Data tells us what is happening; our qualitative framework tells us why. We prioritize the voices of women to ensure our tools resonate on a personal level.
- In-Depth Qualitative Interviews: We are conducting 60 semi-structured, one-on-one interviews to explore the lived experiences of women. These conversations delve into the emotional weight of genetic risk, the nuances of family planning, and the psychological barriers to preventive surgery.
- Thematic Insight Mapping: Using rigorous thematic analysis, we transform these personal stories into actionable “critical points”. This allows us to identify exactly where the healthcare system succeeds and where women feel lost, directly informing the design of our virtual patients and decision-support tools.
