Understanding the Patient’s Concerns 

The CHOICE project recognizes that to support women with BRCA mutations truly, we must first listen to their lived realities, fears, and questions as they are expressed in real time. By analyzing over 5,000,000 online interactions across Europe, we move beyond clinical statistics to capture the human sentiment behind the diagnosis. This large-scale analysis allows us to identify not just what patients are saying, but how they feel, ensuring our project remains deeply rooted in the actual needs of the community.

Our approach transforms raw data into a powerful tool for empathy through the use of advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs). We apply sophisticated algorithms to automatically categorize millions of messages into meaningful themes, such as emotional distress, medical confusion, or the search for social support. The ultimate goal of our sentiment analysis is to refine the way health information is delivered across Portugal, Czechia, and Greece. These data-driven insights serve as the foundation for our Multilingual Health Literacy Dictionary and our interactive Virtual Patients. By bridging the gap between artificial intelligence and human experience, we ensure that every tool we build is a direct response to a BRCA patient’s concerns.
